Sixt Moldova Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2016 and 31-Dec-2019

General Rental Information

The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license and identity card/passport.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.
Corporate customers must specify their VAT identification number.

Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates

Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of 20.00 EUR. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.

Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions

In Moldova, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:
21 years/1 year for vehicles in groups M***, E***, C***, I***,
23 years/3 years for vehicles in groups S***;F***, L***, P***.
A Young/ Old Driver surcharge of 10.00 EUR per day.- applies for drivers under 25 and over 71 years.

Conditions of Payment

Flexi Tariff

We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa and American Express. We accept prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron/Maestro).
Cash Payment is accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Rentals are payable in MDL, based on commercial exchange rate in force on the payment date.

Prepaid Tariff

The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express Card, VISA Card. Cash Payment, cash deposits, prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron, Maestro) are accepted. The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card. By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees. The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.

Generally

An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. Credit Card deposit is mandatory at collection, even in case of prepaid rental. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle (amount of the rental cost and the excess applicable). Different amounts are possible.
Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.

The value of a full tank of petrol will be added to the amount of the deposit which varies between 50.00 EUR and 100.00 EUR.
For the following car groups two credit cards can be requested: L***, P***.
Due to fluctuating foreign exchange rates and other possible banking charges, Sixt cannot be held responsible for any difference between the amount paid and the amount refunded.
Any excess deposits made will be released up to 30 days after drop off of the car and will be refunded once the rental agreement has been closed and fully paid. This also includes the payment of the costs for damages or accidents. Only then, the deposit can be returned.

General Protection Conditions

The renter or the driver is liable up to the maximum amount of liability for incidents/accidents caused by the driver intentionally or by gross negligence, or damage caused by parking, theft or any damage caused by an unknown third party.
A police record is obligatory for all protections. In case that the driver does not ensure police presence or a police record, the full amount for the damage and/or theft will be charged to the driver irrespective of the kind of the purchased protection.
Insurance packages not provide protection for areas considered as a risk territory (Transnistria region).

Third Party Insurance (TI)

Protection coverage for the vehicle includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover for personal injuries of 5,000,000.00 MDL (~ 250,000.00 EUR) or 1,000,000.00 MDL (~ 50,000.00 EUR) per injured person; and a maximum cover of 1,000,000.00 MDL (~ 50,000.00 EUR) for material damages.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage. If CDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car. If CDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: see table

Top Cover CDW

If CDW is already included in the rates, the customer can choose Top Cover CDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility. If Top Cover CDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: see table

Theft Protection (TP)

Theft Protection removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.

Personal Accident Protection (PAP)

By taking out personal accident protection can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.

- 200,000.00 MDL (~ 10,000.00 EUR) for invalidity of the driver,
- 50,000.00 MDL (~ 2,500.00 EUR) for decease of the driver.

Tyre and Windscreen Coverage (TG)

The cost of PAI is as follows: see table
Tyre and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If TG is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow. If TG is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 EUR

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Bulgary, Hungary, Greece, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Croatia, Poland, Slovenia, Slovacia, Romania, Ukraine, (region of) Transnistria.
A written permission issued by the Sixt branch is mandatory to cross the border.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity and additional fees will be charged.
One-Way Rentals are not allowed for car groups L*** and P***.

Foreign Use Charge

A foreign use charge of
Zone 1 : 20.- Euro - Romania, Ukraine, Region of Transnistria

During the period of November 1st until March 31 winter tires are mandatory and will be charged.
Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.
 

Additional Driver

An Additional Driver Surcharge of 6.00 EUR per day, max. 50.00 EUR per rental applies.

Road Side Assistance

The Road Side Assistance covers assistance with tire repairs, refueling of vehicles on the road, loss or misplacing of keys and break downs. Spare parts, fuel and tires themselves are not included.
Roadside protection and assistance conditions are not valid and applicable outside Moldovan borders.
In case Roadside protection is not accepted following administrative expenses for providing road assistance will apply to your Rental agreement:
20.00 EUR for Chisinau together with all vehicle repair expenses.
20.00 EUR and extra 0.50 EUR per each kilometer outside mentioned above limits of districts together with all vehicle repair expenses.

Refueling Charge

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise a charge of 2.00 EUR per litre of petrol or per litre of diesel in addition to a tanking fee of 10.00 EUR will apply.

Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.

For using the wrong fuel type when filling the car, a minimum charge of 300,00 EUR applies.

Other Fees and Taxes

Loss of items

A Loss Of Car Documents Fee of 200.00 EUR applies.
(Loss of Documents = OT)
A Loss Of Car License Plate Fee of 100.00 EUR applies.
(Loss of car license plate = OT)
A Lost Of Key Fee of 100.00 EUR as well as the costs for the new keys applies.
(Lost Of Key = KY)

Administration Fee For Fine

The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occurring during the rental.
If the renter has a traffic/parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of 20.00 EUR together with the first settlement-proposition.

Accident Handling Fee

If the renter has an accident during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of 200.00 EUR additionally to the resulting damage.

Vehicle Cleaning

All Sixt Moldova's cars are non-smoking cars. In case of evidence of smoking (dust, cigarette stub, smell caused by smoking) the renter will be charged with a cleaning fee.
In case the car require a special cleaning procedure (i.e. animal pollution, spill of liquids etc.) after returning, a charge of 100.00 EUR will apply.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
